  • apple – 35 oz /1 kg (for 2 strudels)
  • bread crumbs – 3 tbsp
  • cinnamon – 1 tsp
  • sugar – 3 tbsp
  • raisin – 3 oz /100 g
  • ground nuts – 3 oz /100 g
  • butter – 1 oz /40 g
  • phyllo dough – 16 oz /450 g (for 2 strudels)
  • rum – 150 ml

You will need:

  • oven
  • baking sheet
  • parchment paper
  • bowl


  1. Wash the raisin and soak in the rum advisable for a day.
  2. Remove the cores out of apples and peel, divide and cut into thin slices.
  3. Add the cinnamon, bread crumbs, sugar, ground nuts and drained raisin to the apples, combine all well.
  4. Lay 1 leaf of the phyllo dough on a towel and butter it, follow with the second leaf and brush with some melted butter again and proceed in this manner with another 5 leaves.
  5. Lay out the apple stuff on the last dough leaf and roll into a strudel with the help of the towel.
  6. Lay the strudel on a parchment lined baking sheet, brush thickly with melted butter.
  7. Preheat oven to 350°F /180°C and bake for 40 minutes until golden crust. Butter the baked strudel, cool and sprinkle with powdered sugar.
