Serves: 8 Prep Time: Cooking Time: Nutrition facts: 200 calories 20 grams fat

Ingredients for 1 layer of cake:

  • 1 1/2 cups | 200g all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup | 200g granulated sugar
  • 1/4 cup | 25g cocoa powder
  • 1 tsp baking soda
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1 cup water
  • 6 tbsp vegetable oil
  • 1 tbsp distilled white vinegar
  • 1 tsp vanilla

Ingredients for frosting:

  • 2 cups | 240g powdered sugar
  • 4 tbsp margarine (room temp.)
  • 2 tbsp cocoa powder
  • 6 tbsp plant milk
  • vanilla if desired

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F | 180°C. Prepare round cake tin 25cm | 10” lined with parchment paper (9” | 23cm round tin works as well).
  2. Sift all dry ingredients into large bowl, whisk to combine and set aside. In second bowl combine water, oil, vinegar and vanilla.
  3. Pour liquids into bowl with dry ingredients and gently stir until well combined with no lumps.
  4. Pour into baking tin and bake for 30 minutes or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.Cool completely in the pan.
  5. If you don’t want to add frosting, you can dust the cake with powdered sugar.
  6. Put powdered sugar, margarine, cocoa powder (and eventually vanilla) into high bowl and mix with electric mixer.
  7. Pour plant milk little by little to adjust thickness.
  8. Beat until desired frosting consistency.
  9. Use spatula to spread frosting on cake’s layers.
  10. Cut lower layer to make it even, if needed.
  11. Share with beloved ones!

If you are not a vegan, you can use butter and cow milk. When you need more layers, multiply the number of ingredients and the number of layers. You need to bake every layer in separate tin! For example: if you want 3 layers of cake, triple ingredients for cake and frosting. Ready In: 40 minutes (+ cooling time)
